It belongs to the youngest institutions comparable size and signification (founded in 1957), is located in the area of Roztoky chateau, which resembles the rebuilt Renaissance water citadel with its further repairs. Tiché údolí / Silent valleyAlong the Únětice brook from a village Únětice down to its mouth in Roztoky there are two reservations expanding there: natural reservation Roztocký háj (Roztocký Forest) – Tiché údolí (Silent Valley) and natural reservation Údolí Únětického potoka (Valley of Únětický brook). It is one of the biggest protected districts in the surrounding area of Prague. This very neighbourhood of Únětický potok (Únětický brook) was classified among 50 the most beautiful places in the Czech Republic. Levý HradecThe region of Levý Hradec had been colonized since the stone age. Later it became a mansion for the first Přemysl princes. Gothic church of saint Kliment was built on the same land as the older Romance Rotunda of prince Bořivoj and has been after rebuilt in baroque style. Very precious gothic wall paintings with the subjects of Holly Virgin’s life and Christ’s martyndom can be found in the church of saint Kliment. Upon visitors requests they can be shown romance grounds of the church. The archaeological exhibition in Roztoky museum represents the history of the castle. Okor CastleA large ruin with a typical torso of a tower became a popular vacation spot and also a popular spot of Romantic painters. The remaining parts originated probably in the 13th century, the castle was rebuilt in Renaissance style in the half of the 14th century, then destroyed during the Thirty Years War and rebuilt in the Baroque style by Jesuit Order, and finally abandoned after their order was closed. Nelahozeves CastleThis Renaissance castle, dating from 1553 and built high above the Moldau River, is located 25 km North of Prague off highway E55 direction of Teplice. It is owned by the Roudnice branch of the Lobkowicz family. 1997 marked the ceremonial grand opening by the then President Václav Havel and his wife of a unique collection, never seen before, of paintings, decorative arts, musical instruments and manuscripts spanning six centuries. This permanent exhibit, entitled „Six Centuries of European Art Patronage,“ is one of the largest and most significant private collections in Europe. Among other distinguished guests who visited the castle and its acclaimed exhibition since its opening were the First Lady Laura Bush, Prince Felipe of Spain, the Swedish Royal couple King Karl Gustaf XVI and Queen Silvia, among many other political, social and cultural dignitaries from around the world.
